Climb east hill again, partly for the exercise, and partly to look for an arbutus plant which I wanted as a center piece for Bertha - when I had reached the top, a few soggy snowflakes mingled with the rain. Find a nice arbutus – down the sodden smoke-stained hill.; Back thru [sic] Little Valley – thence to Ellicottville – more snow falling at Salamenca, and at Springville. May 4 – ; Take C & A to science museum – thence to Trumbee on Delaware, to get a drawing of it. Work till lunch-time. Get the children then to lunchroom at Allen near Day’s park.; Take children to bus at library, - then back to Trumbee. Sketch all afternoon – sun comes out clean and strong at mid P.M.May 6 – (Monday); To Buffalo – to bank – picture to Genesee Pic. Frame Co. (for Fred’s and Irma’s anniversary – a 1921 sketch of Three Trees. ; More studies of Trumbee House – May 7 (Tues) – ; To Buffalo again – pay bills– May 8 – ; To old House and Locust Trees on Route 62 (83 minutes out) – ; Raining all day except for an hour at late afternoon – ; The old house, while beautiful, with grand old locusts, simply does not make a picture. ; Back to route 17, and towards Salamanca – Lunch by swamp,
