suddenly seemed good. Apr. 25 – Thurs- ; A lowering day – working around yard – cleaning out garage, taking down some storm windows. Apr. 26 – Friday – ; Cleaning out shed, fixing driveway – playing records in studio. ; Evening take Catherine (M.A. & Betty Ashley along) to spelling match at E. Aurora. She went down on “rendezvous” May 1 – 2- ; Attempted a start on the Genesee St. Bldg. picture, but had to scrub it all out.May 3 – (Friday) – ; To Salamanca – A lowering day. ; Before noon up east hill to look at round-house. Discover the best view of it is right down by the road. Made a preliminary sketch. ; Lunch in the “Main Diner” – the young fellow who ordered an egg sandwich with meticulous directions. When in answer to the cook’s question he said he would have it on plain bread instead of toast, the attendant retorted “going to be rugged today, eh?” – ; After I had eaten, watched the people in the main street a lot, and then out on the bridge to look at the river – ; A fine rain commences to fall.
