out to bridge. ; Exciting intangible words and murmurings press in from all sides – filling me with a pain combination of ecstacy [sic] and longing. It is the old agony of spring – if even I can calmly view the first onslaught of spring, I will know I am old, and ready for the grave. ; The sky hangs low; and the clouds broken up with loose inverted scallops, presaging rain. ; Redwings from the railroad swamp.; A & I to head over so – A – to see the snow. Lunch at Warsaw and return.April 1 – (Monday); Over the same country as Saturday in hopes of making a sketch but could not get started - ; Evening Sch out – to get names of artists in Cleveland Pittsburg etc – for Juniors for the B.S.A. exhibit at the Statler, a nice chatty evening. ; Apr. 2 – Tues; B & I to see, “Abraham Lincoln in Illinois-“Very good, but something seemed to be lacking – or is the theme just temporarily worn out? The Fonda version seemed a little more genuine, less dramatic perhaps, but more sincere-less obvious in its dramatic moments.; Apr. 3 – Wed –; [To the Wyoming Valley sketching] (forced by desperation) A brisk day, overcast skies and strong wind from the east.
