soldiers were around, he had extricated himself, he was speechless with rage. When (sic) ensued between him & Yanow, we never knew, but the mule was forthwith destroyed at the Camp incinerary [sic], and when later a dead horse was procured, the work had to be done at this place.; Pearson was on his way to New York, and had been stopped in Brockton because he had no plates on his car (He had paid for them in Illinois, but for some reason had not been able to get them, and had been told his receipt was sufficient). He seems to be at loose ends – he long ago married a German girl, who after two years of America, went home on a visit and never returned.___________; Friday Evening – (Feb. 16) – Take children to basketball game at Ebenezer. Earlier the girls said Hopkins had asked them to have me come to school Monday and give reasons why they should not do the more strenuous “gym” work, which I had forbade them do. Calling the Dr. we made arrangements to meet at the game, and discuss it with Bogan (the physical director). We all got together after the game, and Jim catalogued the girl’s weaknesses for the school’s benefit. But, while his reason were [sic] justified, mu own real reasons were that on general principals it is not good for girls to take such violent exercises.
