had to wait for the car, as Bertha had gone to the “city line” to do Valentine shopping.; ; ; ; Feb. 14 – Wed.; Painted all day on the W.C. started yesterday –; A blizzard from the N.E. which continues into the night.; Late P.M. to Galleys to get pot of hyacinths, which I fixed up with white crepe paper & red hearts as a valentine for Bertha.; ; ; ; Feb. 15 – Thurs.; Car to Justice for service & repairing of gear-shift.; Stay till late P.M. making studies of Lackawanna Station, and of the Elec. Bldg scene.; ; ; ; Feb. 16 – Friday –; Aimless morning in studio –; P.M. B & I to see “Mikado” again, at the Mercury – and loved it more than ever. Would it be possible to wear out so delightful a thing? – It seems not!; ; ; ; Feb. 17 – Saturday –; About noon “an old friend of twenty years standing” – called up, who proved to be “sergeant” Pearson, one of the camouflage boys at Camp Jackson. We made arrangements for him to come out on a Clinton bus where I should meet him. (at 1:30).; Before he came, I thought it was ridiculous for us to meet again, for we had not been fond of each other then – his was the second trunk from mine. What I remembered of him was that he was slow, plodding, and humor-less; impervious to the sights and insults Eskridge & I rudely offered him (E’s bunk was next to mine –) There was a vague feeling too that there
