Afterwards bought candy for the stay-at-homes.; ; ; ; Jan. 18, (Thurs).; Bitterly cold weather – I am not in top physical form for it annoys me –; I am in such low spirits, that three jobs confronting me, put me into the dumps. They are – the water pipes in the back frozen up; my storm door to put on, and a cord for the iron. It seems impossible to start any of them.; But I finally tackle the water pipes first. Take my oil heater under the house, hoping its heat will gradually thaw he pipes & prevent their bursting. My plan worked, for I had not been in the studio long until Bertha called and said the water was running.; Most of the day on the second bug-bear – the storm door. The cold wind while I was putting it up – straight masses of clouds, and at times a dim remote sun.; I had intended to go to the “city-line” shopping, among other things to get a cord for the iron.; But as far as painting is concerned – a futile day, and with little hope in sight.; ; ; ; ; Feb. 7 – (Wednesday); A summary of the last two weeks or more –; Jan – 19 – a blizzard, with the temperature about zero.
