he came in the “side” door, all covered with snow, and when he kissed me his moustache was wet.; I decided it was too much to drive down to the funeral. I wrote Mary D. a letter.; ; ; ; ; Jan 15, (Monday); A.M. Puttering. Ordered storm door for studio. Discovered that the wind had also blown down the little storm window in front. It was lying on the ground, quite unharmed.; Colder, snowing – almost blizzard-like at times.; P.M. To Buffalo. To framers to have Neel’s & Bartholomew’s cards framed. To pay income tax. A boring tedious task. Shopping at market. Than for drive around harbor.; ; ; ; ; Jan. 16 – (Tues).; A day absolutely blank in my memory.; ; ; ; Jan. 17 – (Wed); A.M. Bored to death – waterproofing my two pair of “high-tops” & Arthur’s, in the studio.; Dr. “Jim” – for Bertha.; Late P.M. M.A. & M & I to see bill at Hippodrome – “We are not alone” (Paul Muni & Jane Bryan) & a Charlie Chan. The first a superbly done picture with an argument against war – a devastating picture that left us ragged.
