He promised to see if he could locate the Sunburst picture.; In the studio – show him 1917 group – he was enthusiastic – picked out three or four he wanted me to “earmark” for the Gallery tho he said no purchases could be made right now.Jan 3, 1940 (Wed); It would be interesting if sometime I could record the bustle & confusion, and impressions of the Christmas season, with the flood of memories it brings. ; To bed Christmas day with cold. While in bed wrote a 2000 word radio speech for the Cleveland School of Art “hour” (Dec. 31) which Travis read (They had wanted me to give it in person) – The Theme was “What the Art School meant to me as a young artist” (My own choice) but they titled it “My Student Days at the C-S-A” I enjoyed the reminiscences this task evoked.; A few days before Christmas, I received the following letter from F.R.; Dear Charlie:; ; A Merry Merry Xmas to You & Yours!; ; And to help it along, some good news.; ; First, the exhibition which is still on has created great-interest. Many of the finest people in the land have been in to see it – and have been thrilled by it – your ears must have indeed burned. And you can do all the “purring” you want.
