Aug. 11 – (Friday) – ; An aimless day – clearing up yard & fussing around in the studio. ; Even, Ellinges from Pittsburg (sic) stop – have dinner with us, – on their way to Canada for a vacation. ; A strange visit – They not only seem to not be interested in anything we are, but to have no consuming interests of their own. We talked but I doubt if anyone listened to anyone else. ; ; Aug 12, (Saturday) –; Early afternoon, to Buffalo to see about the car ay Justice, and to do a little shopping – ; Late P.M. make innumable (sic) studies of clouds, with the purpose of using them for the Two Bridges picture. ; A storm comes up at sunset. It is very exciting, and infected all of us – Arthur climbed the willow tree and stood in its top, facing the wind. Two of the girls climbed the shed roof. A violent wind receded the rain, filling the air with dust. Two planes making for the air-port; the second, a transport tho pointed northwest, was flying in a wide are, northeastwards. ; B & I for walk at la [sic] twilight.; Heavy showers, with lightning and thunder all night. ; I forgot to mention the Aurora Borealis which were brilliantly visible on Friday night, – B & I first noticed them coming
