lights floating over the fields – ideal March weather.April 3, 1939 – ; To Buffalo to have car over-hauled. The city bored me, and I came home on the bus, rather than wait. In the afternoon I went in again to get the car, first buying a book for Bertha, a Nelson Eddy record for the girls, and for myself, “Shadrach” – ; Evening B&I play canfield.April 5, 1939 – Wed.; A mild sunshiny day. I cannot settle down to anything. With B’s help – straighten lattice blown over by last winter’s storm, & fix front seat of car.; In the evening make pencil sketch of view looking S.W. over the village across the creek.April 6, 1939 – ; Make water-color from last night’s sketch. Rain in morning which turns to snow. Late P.M. for usual walk out French Rd. to Clinton etc. Bleak scudding clouds covered the sky, my mind on fire with the morning’s effort.
