I have done, and go on to new things, in which it is my determination to come to grips with nature in a way I never have done before.; [The following entries are being written on Dec. 27. The past few weeks have been a round of shopping, and worrying over petty affairs, which engrossed my mind to such an extent, that some of these notes, jotted down on scratch paper so I would not forget them, are already almost meaningless-]; So the first one, undated (and I cannot recall the date, except that it was Sunday.; “Sat. Eve” – Concert [what was played at the concert? I do not know]; Dream: Old House – Joe – Heston. [Blank]; Lady Scolding – [?]; In House – Fire – Downstairs – dining room to north, and one to South as in a Tavern – Man shows one to door – go out – woodwork on door inlaid with ceramic designs, the wood rotting away from them – Lady going to market (the same one who was scolding) I go along to help carry – ; Decide to apologyze (sic) but a young man comes along. I say later and then just as I am about to apologyze (sic) I wake up.; All that I remember of this dream is that I thot (sic) it very interesting.
