innumerable things for painting –
Evening with S. – to concert by Cincinnati Orchs. – a great concert –
A wet snow has fallen in the night – It has the appearance of a Turkish towel with its ruffled surface –
More freight cars have disappeared from the siding – it does not have the same intimate feeling – As I walk along small bites of snow are flicked up by my toes and fling ahead about a yard – it is as regular as though by design-
Frost has formed on the under side of the bridges – not on the beams, but on the flat undersurface – it lights up the interior with a ghostly phosphorescent light.
A cold driving rain from the S.W. Streets are covered with water and soggy gray-violet ice – Buying hyacinth in greenhouse – pleasant in a greenhouse in this pre-Spring season.
Walk by R.R. at5:30 P.M.a clear orange and blue March afterglow sky –
Walk byUnion Rd.to Penna R.R. toLein Rd.toSeneca Creek Rd.thence home.
A wonderful walk – a violent wind out of the S.W., clear brilliant sunshine – ice pond in front of black houses onUnion Rd.– all R.R. the snow melting on box-car roofs reflects the sun with a brilliant sparkle – snow drifting – Calves bawling in a box-car on a siding- -
Turning from Lein Rd.to Seneca Creek Rd.I had difficulty making any headway at all against the wind – this part of the walk was a physical delight – I rejoiced in bending my head down – in the cold watery air around my bare hands – I felt as tho I were born anew – later orchards and houses broke the force of the wind somewhat - [1]
