Down road to valley. See the falls – a writhing ribbon of white against the gray cliff, with powdery spray at the top—
The limbs of apple trees a rich orange yellow green – willows flaming yellow – Northrup road follows edge of steep bank shunting a valley with a winding creek – The fields below all seemed wonderful to me, cut by trees in front – wooded hills beyond with splotches of green pines. (Northrup ends at “Sweet” road, thence to “Milestrip” road—
The sky almost clear at times & sunlight brilliant & warm even in the car & in a short space of time ragged clouds would gather & the whole earth became suddenly a gray void. All things took on a wonderful poetic mood.
To Chestnut ridge park – drive into woods trees with white sides of snow – a raw beautiful effect.
To abbot road & so to Cazenovia Park & home.

A day out of March—
Raw blue sky, brilliant sunshine roofs glistening with melted frost those in shadow startling blue white
Sunlight running down tree trunks like molten silver, the braches snap like lightning; the earth oily with melted mud
