The other night as I came over the bridge onCanon Rd.I was surprised at the roaring torrent below. This was indeed a new phase of the thin sluggish stream of summer – it was a wild torrent that was as primitive as a stream of any wild place. I am developing quite an affection for this Buffalo Creek. Just above where our house is situated it turns in and hugs the slate bank that drops abruptly from the street to the water – I can easily see the stream while lying in bed, and at night it is a pleasant thing to hear its roaring. It has definite personality with many varied moods.
The difference in the seasons inOhio& here must be at least three weeks. I am already getting used to the weather here. I used to think of March during most of April here, but now April is different. Today is a gloriousBuffaloApril day. The sky a clear blue with white marked clouds or dapples. Cold, but the sunlight warm & the ground thawing. There was oil in little pools this morning when I went out to wait for the bus, “song sparrows and robins singing.”
Noon – I eat at the “One-arm.” I don’t often have occasion to eat here anymore but I used to all the time my first winter in Buffalo. I always enjoy it, and get the same
