Shots of hunters out. I follow a narrow little used road – however I met a Ford with a family in, & shortly after two truck loads of furniture. I wondered who was moving today.; As I walked along here I watched the huge masses of clouds that rolled along the hilltop and I thought of those old Hebrew poets & prophets who wrote the Old Testament. And then I thot (sic) of what someone said in thinking of the ancients – “we ourselves are the ancients” – Is the day of direct contact with god over? – that is, are we not prophets who find god on every hilltop and in the skies? Our scientific discoveries are only new toys to us, – they will soon pale as we will pick up some of the old. The evolutionists rely upon real facts and probably as far as they go, are right – but no line in their creed can compare with genesis I-2 And the spirit of god moved upon the face of the waters –; I stopped by a bank to sketch a group of trees & a barn – a young boy came along carrying a ladder and some pails (I had a few minutes before heard him talking to a mare, calling her all sorts of pet names that were nice to hear) He was a fine sight to see – a husky straight boy of about 14 yrs, smiling happy, with full red cheeks glowing. He spoke to me merrily and was bubbling over with news. He told me that the trucks that had passed were moving some people down the road to Buffalo; that they were to have stopped for the people at this place but were full when they came along.
