and then kissed each other goodbye –; As I walked along a little lane like road to the east, I felt a longing to rush back to her and then I realized suddenly how much she had grown into my life – especially now that our child was growing up – I walked along with joyous contemplation – her spirit seemed to surround me on all sides. I was walking out to a ramble alone, but the thought was sweet that behind me waited Bertha. The afternoon took on a golden haze of peace and contentment. As I entered the wood a soft gladness fell over me – the trees took on new beauty the newness of plants thrilled me – as I picked trilliums, dogtooth violets & wild gingerI looked out over the meadows & woods to the north – lit up by the level golden rays of the setting sun –
