Mar 5, 1922 – ; Following a night of wet soggy snowfall a brilliant cold morning appears- The sunlight dazzles the eyes- great clouds of steam arise from the startle black & white roofs –; To Seneca St. – the Washington street looking south – vast areas of blue silhouettes – the buildings around me are tall, dark & cool – the old feeling of coming out of a huge ice bound cave into sunlight- ; To end of Seneca street line - on the way gutters full of sparkling water people Sunday school people going home – Strike out south – the wonderful bracing are - the wind sweeps over vast blue & white plains to the south – smell of reeking earth reminds of hypaticas (sic) I walk along insanely joyous & happily puffing out my chest - The pine trees along the road – bristling trees stiffen against the wind – brilliant orange willows – Eter It is now the great eternity of one o’ clock march sunlight – it seems as if it would stay like this forever – the roar of a waterfall somewhere – the odor of quickening saplings –; The big valley – stream curves brilliant getaway ripples – the dry turf cliff in which I am standing covered with acorns –; The far far away plains to the north with locomotives from rumbling from different points – chickens busy in some barnyard –; At home – there seems to hover around me the smell of melting earth & muddy sycamores –
