ruminated on the apotheosis of the long summer day of boyhood, to which I was completely attune. (Who wanted to sketch anyway?); It turned out that Wilcox was the only one who sketched – a creditable watercolor of a view up the river – (the only sketch of the entire trip!) -; After some more birch-beer, on our way again.; On our arrival at Steubenville our first concern was to get rooms at a hotel – After supper, to a movie, and later talking in Keller’s room.; The next morning none of us felt like walking so we inquired about trains back to Yellow Creek – One was leaving shortly and we sat on benches by the river, in sort of a stupor -; Leaving the train at Yellow Creek, we took a road (skirting the creek of the same name) towards Irondale our next objective – The vivid orange-yellow of the creek - - - -
