He was a Hollander a delicate retiring person, who was of the type of being that wear an apologetic look wherever they go; as if always afraid of intruding. Travis requested him to bring a record of his – he also possessed a talking machine – in for me to hear. My praise prompted him to ask me over to his room to hear more. I was immediately struck with the way he handled the records. He picked them up almost gingerly, and placed them on the machine with the greatest care, and wiped them carefully with a velvet cloth.
