[inscription reads] " spring - / I came to school with loathing & learned about moldings arches and what not. / I noted at noon how students passing below on walk were shadowed in the windows reflected sunlight. It seems a remembrance of some other time. One of my faults is that I imagine my life is divided off into periods, that are marked by times when I think that I see less beauty in life than at an earlier time. Yet in spite of myself, something always occurs to prove to me that life grows more beautiful "
