[inscription reads] a clear blue sky and sun-yellowed clouds. / Miss Ames explains to me the cause of sun-dogs. The correct name is Par - ? helion and is caused by the sun shining on ice-crystals in the air! / December 5, 1914. / It seems to me as if I had not been observing nature much of late. Of course the city is cramping but I have not been deriving my customary enjoyment out of the air & sky. / Today is one of a gray sky and cold snappy air. / I wish I could understand
