[inscription reads] " Winter. Wind. Rattle. / Sky clear at evening. Sunset beautiful. Gold sun, coppery glow in bright plum-colored haze. Golden flecks above. / Eastern sky twinkles silently with a million blackbirds. / At noon, forgetting to mail a letter, I put a rubber band around the sleeve of my coat so as to remind me when I put it on. At night all unconscious I put my hand thru (sic) the sleeve and the surprise of feeling the band, together with the recurrence of my memory of what it was for, "
