The day clearing with an east wind is new. The world seemed reversed. / Thoroughwort, Turtlehead, smartweed, white thoroughwort sunflowers - all fresh. / From Farqhar’s Hill I hear the blackbirds in the swamp beyond Haw Mead plainly. Falling water. A shot. Silence momentarily. Then renewal of chatter. / Blue agated trees quivering "
