[inscription reads] " At evening sky perfectly clear. Sunlight dazzling & cold. Air cold. Invigorating / Letter from Miss McIntyre. Tells of spending two weeks in shanty on top of a hill with a girl alone. This shows a trait in her whish (sic) is new to me. I think it is fine. She spent most of time “watching the clouds go by & listening to the woodpeckers at their work.” It is refreshing to find some one personal who believes in doing such things. To read of Thoreau & Burroughs is more remote. / Night sky dappled. "
