[inscription reads] " September sunshine than which nothing is brighter or yellower. Trees & houses seem to be faces turned toward the sinking sun. They have an air of resignation or again as if they thought this was the last day, & they were awaiting it with a serene calmness that comes of a life well spent. Object with the slightest sheen otherwise unnoticed during the day, become blinding under the level sun. Tonight a porch westward blinds the eye.
