blue more beautiful than sky, dropped down, beside him. It is hard to speak of such a miracle on ordinary terms. Oblivious to all else, I watched these two birds, now hidden & now coming forth at unexpected openings in the leaves, as tho there were a sheet of some red & blue material behind the trees, which the wind ex¬posed in places by tossing a leaf aside.(HT)Meanwhile two cardinals one over in Posts & one close at hand down in the hollow, kept up a thrilling duet, the one close at hand being punctuated by the remote call of
