It is not a bright light, though not a cloud is in the sky.The whole earth is vaguely illumined by it. The wind blows it about and prevents it from making any noticeable shadows. A thistle down floats in front & is momentarily gilded.I notice that shadow of my hand on paper is surrounded by a glow exactly of the color that surrounds the sun.(HT)(HT)I had much amusement in making sunbeams. This is done by looking at the sun and then looking away; the sun’s image is re¬tained on the retina and we imagine
