Without warning it flies down to gladiola bed, where it pierced several flowers & then, after hovering momentarily over a silver spotted fritillary her attitude seeming one of curiosity, she flew up to the tree again, there going thru the same manuevers as before & again flew down to gladiolas. This time I heard a faint chip¬ping sound which I was unwilling to attribute to her until, a male appeared and pursued her to top of tree, where I heard the sound more plainly. Here I lost sight of them, but on coming out
