[inscription reads] " Tall as my head. / Bush emmeshed with Virgin’s Bower. The Beaver seems unusually full, and I look for a dam, as I come upon a swimming hole. / Come to a tributary of Beaver. Water clear & fresh. Full of pondlilies, just in bloom. / The sewage disposal plant certainly worked wonders for this stream. The water has a healthy translucent green look. Come to where a sulphurous brook flows in. Here a rude bridge has been made by two half-round logs. "
