[inscription reads] " “battered remains” of formerly splendid specimens. Gooseberries ripening. / Railfence partially obscured by Rosebushes, catbrier, raspberries, maple saplings, poke, gooseberry, nettles elders. Post woods sparse and may be called a wooded pasture. Beeches predominate. / Come to Post’s Cloverfield, which is now a pasture. As I come to fence, spy a gray squirrel in wavy flight, making for Catalpa growth bordering Pine Hollow. / Here may be seen the poetry of distance. To the Northeast lie "
