[inscription reads] " a black & yellow, & a blue species. Tho (sic) I watched three closely I could not quite get at the mechanism of it. Seeing one just finishing I watched it. Slowly it walked over the trunk, usually head downward, feeling in among the crevases (sic) for its victims egg, dragging its long horse hair like tail after it. A place having been found it stopped and holding its antennae at the spot until its ovipositor had been place, which was arched over its back. This now divided into three “strands” two of them forming an arch over its abdomen, the third (I think) being inserted thru (sic) its body in some man- "
