[inscription reads] " the long dry season? / Out of that hot smoky sky comes the wind, a part of the sky itself. A typical August scene – the yellow wheat fields or hayfields & pastures, with wind blowing haze-enshrouded trees, and a gray luminous sky above. The sky grows darker at horizon. A cicada sings and is the true songster of such a scene. / The wind blowing in the trees – the rattle of leaves close at hand which blends with the cicada songs so that we cannot distinguish them; and the soft roaring of more distant trees.
