[inscription reads] " which in a running stream does not show, which collected here at this dam. It looks at tho (sic) it were coated with spiderwebs. / A quiet place just below the dam, where the current does not touch. A cloudy looking mass of yellow stuff, which when stirred dissolves, but which left alone, eventually comes to the surface, flattens out, forming a scum, which is oily, having the infinite colors of oil, when the latter strikes water. / Walking along the bank I come upon a muskrat "
