[inscription reads] " which we tramp almost without pause to Beech. Flock of sparrows in oats. / Sow-thistle is going to seed. / Thunderclouds have a dignity & majesty unequaled. To see the sun’s rays striking their white edges has a strong poetic beauty. One wonders the clouds are not atomized. / Songsparrows sing. / Kingfishers. Grey edged blister-beetles. / Ironweed is just commencing to bloom & is beginning to put a purple haze over the field. I have a mind to call these Ironweed Meadows "
