[inscription reads] " Northwoods the road is lined with Basswood & Catalpa with a few maples, of several species, Catalpa has a scissory look. Basswood full of balls. One kind of maple overloaded with winged seeds. / On both sides of road to Pinehollow are cultivated fields. On one side at Pinehollow is flat grove leading to hollow; opposite it is Scholl house which stands in the centre of a sparse grove of trees extending for some distance. In the direction of Cabin beach, we may see the distant blue hills of the Dutchman’s "
