Life seemed full of good things. / As darkness comes, I became aware that the cricket chorus has commenced, tho (sic) it is faint as yet & lacks that rhythmic pulsation which it attains later on. / July 27, 1914 / A warm July day. Retreat to some shady spot and you will notice that a slight breeze is stirring. In the sun we do not notice it. / Wren sings at morning. "
