/ :Continued: / inch or so of muddy water, which was thickened by slowly perishing animal life. Three tribes there were here, fish, snails & frogs, the latter being tadpoles. Each family held together. Snails bordered the edge in thick piles, just close enough to be saturated with dampness. Next these are the tadpoles; next come sucker minnows & finally in the centre are the catfish minnows which might deceive the careless eye into believing they were polly-
