Joe was elected treasurer of the C.S.A. Art Students League.
Such in very brief form are the happenings of our stay in Cleveland so far.
Three days in Charlie Kaiser’s company served to renew and make even stronger our friendship which had only gotten a good start last spring. It was with deep regret that I bid him goodbye when he left for Chicago. At first I wished I was going with him. Last spring he and I became very much dissatisfied with the Cleveland Art School by reason of the fact that changes were being made in the faculty which did not suit. At the time we decided to go to some other school. During the summer we received catalogues from various schools and (Burchfield’s handwriting changes here to later in life [50s?] when he took one page out and edited pages 58. and 59. The new page is taped in with cellophane tape) in our
