It was perhaps a little later than this two years ago when made the interesting discovery that the seeds of poke- + amaranthus weeds will pop like pop-corn. Doubtless many other varieties will also.
A thing of beauty is a row of Poplars On High twinkling in the late afternoon sun some trees in dark shadow, others bright yellow with sunlight.
The wind was from northeast by east today, and its coming caused an odd phenomenon in the sky. Towards midmorning long streaks of white mist driven by the steady cool wind commenced stretching towards the zenith, and its coming was like the drifting of snow thru a hole in a rail-fence. By early afternoon the work was completed - a wide arch of clouds, that were interwoven like the meshes of gourds, extended diagonally across the sky.
