An errand up to Crowl’s home brought me outdoors in the middle of the morning. White capering clouds had now appeared and raced across the blue, with gay haste. On Garfield I noticed that the leaves of blue gum tree were turning red and falling thickly.
Afternoon came and with it a desire to go for a walk to the woods and fields. But at the same time came the information that Bill and his mother had returned from Cleveland. Donning my tennis shoes for comfort and flannel shirt for warmth, I started out, intending to learn the news and then go on with my walk. Sill to my surprise desired to go along and as we started a whistle told us that Fred was coming up the street.
So the three of us went merrily along. For natural sight-seeing I would have preferred to be alone for then the mind is free to concentrate
