days, until now, it calls attention to itself by its flaming spikes of flowers. Nature is so sparing of pure red that the sight of these is intensely satisfying. The discovery of these led to that of still more beautiful sight - the paniculatum vine in bloom. Its blooming seems a sort of growth -, low down on the vine, the star-shaped blossoms are few; but they steadily increase as the eyes travel upward, until at the top, the vine is a mass of bristling white bloom.
Night’s sky was cold and clear; the moon at the half-way mark, was intensely cold and white.
