Today was a bright cool day after a storm, when a brisk northwest wind, driving a flock of loose cumulus clouds before it, raced + frolicked over the rain dampened earth. I loved the bending and swaying of trees; and the rippling of grass and rushing of weeds; also the tugging + flapping of ones coat; and the cool air in ones face. Afterwards a quiet calm sunset followed a full strong sunset of bright pink and deep blue bars of clouds.
This evening we were waiting for Fred to return from Bill’s whether he had gone to procure some books, when we saw him returning with Bill at his side. We urged Bill to go with us but he said he was going to Kings. Fred afterwards said he was going to get me to go and snitch peaches. I would rather by far have gone peach gathering.
