11. storm, came that delightful after-part when the sky is greyed gently; when rain patters down soothingly; and when gentle winds stir the dripping bushes + trees. It was my good fortune to see a beautiful trick of the sun. Down on Fourth, the rays of the sinking gun struck the wet bricks of the side-walk and turned them to bright gold. Fred half-jocularly and half seriously exclaimed “The golden streets of paradise.”!
The evening we hilariously spent in preparing for, participating in and in the discussion of afterwards, a Jingo party at Pearl Stitts on Lundy.

A quiet day of the usual post-thundershower order. Nothing obtrudes itself. There are clouds but they are so grey and misty that they themselves pass unnoticed and prevent the sun and sky from being too forward. There are birds
