we could not enjoy the films.
Country roads have again been ground to powder which goes up in clouds at the least stirring of a wind or the passing of a vehicle and sifts down finely, giving all things a filmy yellow coat.
But afar from the road, Nature’s scenes have a peculiarly satisfying appearance. All things, even our own lives, seem in harmony for once.
I was much interested in watching a grass-hopper executing his song. It was the first time I could get near enough to one to examine it in detail. The sound is made by the rapid rubbing of the edges of the wings to-gether.
