we made plans for a picnic in Pinehollow tomorrow.
Monday September 1, 1913
About ten-thirty this morning, as planned all the Jingoes and our guests went out to Cabin-Beech Hollow for our Picnic. Corn and water were procured at a farmhouse not far away and the corn with weiners and cookies and sweet pickles which we had brought with us, made us a jolly meal. With it was mixed cutting up, arguments, co-operational cooking and work. After dinner we lolled on the ground, and besides laughing ourselves silly, we posed for several pictures.
We trailed homeward about four-thirty.
Our guests left on the 7:55. We gave them a hilarious sendoff and after they were gone, we met Joe H. + Jeannette and to the picture-show. We were so weary that (Burchfield’s handwriting changes here to later in life [1962?] when he took one page out and edited pages 4. and 5. and omitted p. 6. and 7. The new page is taped in with cellophane tape)
