homesick than ever. Finally the way out was shown. I was fired for being late two or three times. Did I care? Strange to say I did not but that same night went to the Freshman Reception given at school took part in the stunts and enjoyed myself thoroughly.
I will admit I was pretty blue but Bill cheered me up and it was his suggestion that started on an idea that kept me busy the next month. This was selling place cards etc. “On my own hook”. I got busy and painted a lot of samples and took them downtown. One fellow - the only one who bought anything - arranged with me to fix up an exhibit of my work to put in his window. He also ordered a hundred postcards made. It took all my spare time for this and I had only had them finished and put on display when Thanksgiving came.
