Dashing down a forest aisle,
Glad and gay,
All the way,
Calling wintry storms to play.
Tristram Tindle
This poem almost perfectly describes to-day – a wild stormy day, with cold winds, whirling snow and wild cloudy skies. At night the clouds disappeared and left the cold starry sky overhead.[i]

This has been another nice day. The morning dawned cold and cloudy, but soon the clouds became to part and scatter until the deep blue sky was covered by only a few white soft clouds, which soon disappeared. The sun was very bright and warm, but to-night air again became cool and the stars are very bright.
Bill and I had a “rotten” job to-night and have a worse for to-morrow morning. We had to unpack big boxes and empty them, and cart others around that were so heavy we had to get other men to help us and besides it was nearing six o’clock. We – well we got hot under the collar – and lots of other things.[ii]
