June 19, 1935 -
Talked late at night with Bertha about churches. I confessed to my early dislike and disrespect for Christians, due to my limited experience with churches (Pres. Meth. & Baptist) which has changed due to my association with her, and the Lutheran church. It was a “golden hour” when we were in complete harmony, and could talk with perfect frankness.
June 27, 1935 – (Thurs)
June 22, the first day of summer, was a cool cloudy day with occasional light rain – sketching P.M. Hard to settle on anything; sit awhile in car and make notes for letter to Jewell. Make sketch, half–heartedly of a young walnut tree with a patch of buttercups under it.-
June 23- The next day my sketch seemed to have something to it, so I go out again to do some additional work on it.
June 24-26- B’s folks from Ohio– a time of intense talking etc. Tuesday Mart, Jimmy & .M.A. M.F. Lois & M. & I to Niagara Falls – an enjoyable but tiring trip. Back to Buffalo in time to meet Lois K. – Evening of games.
