When it came to putting in on our plants, Arthur said that we ought to put some in the “other kids’ gardens”
Yesterday I worked all day on “Black Iron” – I thought I was practically finishing it, but when I got home, I found new problems had automatically risen, and there are yet some struggles ahead.
We all at late afternoon went to see Arliss in “Richelieu” (Cardinal Richelieu)– a fine thrilling drama.
A futile sort of day – cleaning up the yard tho my lumbago stiffened me, and kept me from working vigorously.
Apr. 25, 1935 –
Working in the yard. A clear sunshiny day, with a cool wind from the north. Transplanting the valerian, ever-blooming bleeding-hearts, daphne, phlox and rose-bushes to the back & side gardens, so as to make a wide lawn back of the garage. Each year the ritual of actually putting my hands in the earth, seems like a newly discovered delight.
