                   Jan 11, 1918 –

     Dusk – Snow Gloom; houses look startled at snow, tree bases deep black + vibrate; running children get black –

     Blizzard out of S.E.  Turns to rain, tearing white clouds -; straight rain; black houses with yellow eyes; rain freezes on trees; creek + clatter of ice-coated branches in the wind –

     More rain takes away ice; S.W. wind comes; bitterly cold; dawn comes with clear sky + roaring wind, creak of wagon wheels -
